Two ways to take the test
Option 1 — Full test (A1 to C2)
Best for you if:
- You’re not sure of your level
- You’ve had a long break from Spanish and want to reassess
- You’re starting a new course and need a placement result
The full test starts at the beginning and works up through all five levels. It’s divided by level — as soon as you don’t pass one, the test stops automatically. That means most people won’t need to answer all 125 questions. Take your time — there’s no countdown.
Option 2 — Test from B1 (intermediate to advanced)
Best for you if:
- You already know you have a solid foundation in Spanish
- You’re somewhere between B1 and C1 and want to know exactly where
- You’ve been studying for a while and want to measure your real progress
This version skips the beginner section and dives straight into intermediate and advanced grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading.
What do the CEFR levels mean?
Your results are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — the international standard used by language schools, universities and employers worldwide.

Is this Spanish level test really free?
Yes. The test is completely free. You only need to register to receive your detailed results and personalised feedback.
How long does it take?
The test has 125 questions in total, but you won’t necessarily answer all of them. It’s divided by level — the moment you don’t pass a level, the test stops and gives you your result. Most people finish well before question 125. The B1–C2 version is shorter by default.
Do I need headphones?
For the listening section, yes — you’ll need speakers or headphones. Make sure your audio is working before you start.
Does it give me an official certificate?
No. Like most free online placement tests, this test does not provide an official certification. For that, you would need to take an official exam such as the DELE or SIELE. However, the results give you a reliable, detailed picture of your level.
Can I retake the test?
Yes. You can retake the test at any time — for example, after a few months of study to measure your progress.
